A Spotify playlist of the deep cuts from their top 100 artists
Escape the algorithm's repeats. ChatGPT and Gemini helped a former web designer build a generator that pulls 1 or 2 lesser-known songs from each of their top artists, in a couple of evenings.

“ChatGPT and Gemini helped me build out a little Spotify playlist generator”
Spotted: found in the wild. Details are as reported by the source above and have not been independently verified.
What they did
Built a playlist generator with ChatGPT and Gemini that scans their top 100 artists from the last 12 months, then builds a playlist from each artist’s bottom 50% of songs by popularity, with 1 or 2 songs per artist. The JavaScript, caching and API work had always been beyond their skills.
How it went
They built it in a couple of evenings, something they could never have done before. Spotify’s API limits mean it can only be offered to 25 people at a time, but it’s a fun way to escape the algorithm’s repeats and explore lesser-known tracks.
Try it yourself with ChatGPT
Build me a small web app that connects to my Spotify account, finds my top [number] artists from the last [period], and makes a playlist from each artist's less popular songs (the bottom half by popularity), [1 or 2] songs per artist, in shuffled order. Explain how to register the Spotify app and run it.

Tired of typing new Date().toISOString() and doing timezone math by hand, they built a small tool with Gemini, which added obscure date formats and random historical events along the way.
To keep up with industry and tech news, the writer built a free-tier Google Cloud Run job pulling Google News RSS feeds. Gemini picks which articles match their criteria and triggers a summary email.
Safari's lack of a favorite Chrome plugin was the writer's last complaint about it. ChatGPT pulled the source from their installed Chrome extension, ported it, and installed it in Safari in 20 minutes.
Auto-placed crop zones with perspective correction and edge snapping, in the browser. It wasn't right on the first try, but building it was much faster than hunting for an existing tool.
Esoteric errors, installation headaches, setup stumbles. ChatGPT got them through each one, Steam and all, and now they stay out of Windows for months. They wish they'd switched a decade ago.
Why is a dot product the same as cosine similarity? ChatGPT broke it into small steps and built interactive vector sliders, and now they actually understand it, not just remember it.
