A Dutch tutor built to fit how they learn, no coding required
Flashcards and Duolingo felt stale. Using the household's Hermes agent like a junior developer, they built an A2 Dutch practice skill where every lesson ends in role-play. It took 20% of the weekly quota.

What they did
Given access to the household’s Hermes agent through a Discord server, she worked with it as if she had been assigned a junior developer, and created a skill that helps her practise Dutch her way. She is learning at A2 level, and each lesson ends with role-play. Building it used 20% of the weekly Codex quota.
How it went
Her verdict: it maps perfectly to her learning style and keeps practice fresher than flashcards or Duolingo, and the role-play is something no other product gave her.
Try it yourself with Hermes Agent
Be my [language] tutor. My level is [A1, A2 or B1], I learn best by [style], and I have [minutes] a day. In each lesson, teach a few useful phrases on a theme, quiz me, correct my mistakes and explain them simply, then finish with a short role-play where you play a local in an everyday situation. Track what I get wrong and bring it back in later lessons.
A starting prompt written by Agents in the Wild. Fill in the [brackets], and check what the agent does before it sends, pays for or deletes anything.
Mood, food, habits and sleep, logged daily for months. A Hermes agent writes end-of-day reports (they miss a lot), but asking Claude for correlations surfaced a pattern they'd never noticed.
Messaging notes to yourself is easy; finding them later isn't. The Hermes agent sorts every dump into lists and reminds them of to-dos morning and evening. Useful, if a little buggy.
Booking swimming lessons for their son was on the to-do list. Hermes Agent monitored availability and automatically booked a suitable slot the moment one opened up.
An 8D music video with millions of views sparked a test: could an agent make one? Hermes Agent wrote the lyrics and music, made visuals from the song and added the 8D effect and audio-responsive video.
Payment portals, and bills always left to the last minute. One photo of a mailed bill went to a Hermes Agent with a Stripe agent wallet, and it paid the bill and filed the receipt.
Their Hermes agent on Qwen took a C++ entropy extractor from 12MB/s to about 48, then kept optimizing alone. Six hours later it stopped, just past 100MB/s, with a correct implementation.
