Family tech support in a group chat, with quizzes so they learn to fish
The same tech questions, again and again. Their OpenClaw answers the family's FAQs in a group chat, remembers what's been asked, and quizzes everyone now and then on past questions.

“Tech support for family: I have a group chat we're all part of, and I've created OpenClaw skills for frequently asked questions, a memory system to remember questions, and a periodic 'quiz' based on previously asked questions to help everyone "learn to fish", bit by bit.”

What they did
Put OpenClaw in a group chat with the family. Created skills for frequently asked tech questions, a memory system that remembers what’s been asked, and a periodic quiz on earlier questions to help everyone “learn to fish”. The same setup, backed by an Obsidian vault, tracks calories and macros, manages to-dos, adds Anki cards and supports their Japanese study.
How it went
They use it every day. Many of the uses are small, but the daily quality-of-life improvements add up, and Telegram is much nicer for long conversations than the Claude or ChatGPT apps.
Try it yourself with OpenClaw
You're the tech helper in our family group chat. Answer questions in plain, step-by-step language for non-technical people. Keep a list of every question asked and its answer. Once a week, post a short, friendly quiz based on recent questions so everyone learns to fix these things themselves. If something could be a scam or a security risk, say so clearly.

Hospital paperwork needed sorting, some in a language still being learned. An OpenClaw agent scanned 34 pages, flagged missing signatures and drafted an insurance pre-approval for review.
Quotes needed from shower glass suppliers in the area. OpenClaw researched them, sent out the emails, collated the responses and handled the back-and-forth, all in one chat thread.
The current after-school activities end in March, and they'd been told to watch for new ones. Four chat messages had OpenClaw write a skill that checks daily at 10:30am. They still call it unreliable.
At dinner the idea came up: St. Patrick's Day lights instead of Valentine's. One chat message to OpenClaw, which researched the WLED controller's API and set a well-chosen theme.
Finding the thread, looking up details, drafting the reply: their OpenClaw on a spare Mac mini does it all and hands over a draft to edit and send. Ideas for small family apps come back deployed.
Wanting their son to grow up around books, they hooked OpenClaw to their Goodreads list to scan local used bookstores for titles to buy. They say they've never read as much or enjoyed it as much as now.
