Hospital paperwork needed sorting, some in a language still being learned. An OpenClaw agent scanned 34 pages, flagged missing signatures and drafted an insurance pre-approval for review.

Junk email, Amazon return deadlines, open-source pull requests and a trip to book. Grok Bot runs that life admin: 1,000+ emails trashed, 7 return deadlines tracked, 17 PRs merged, flights, hotel and car booked.
"What's for dinner?" with allergies, expiring food and a garden to use up. ChatGPT wrote the build plan and Codex built a local app. Two restarts and about 20 hours later, it's an MVP they use daily.

An old printer stopped working with MacOS 27. Claude wrote new drivers, using its owner as eyes and hands: did grayscale work, did page 1 print at lower DPI, now reload the paper for duplex. Then it printed again.
Their Chromecast wouldn't connect to their IKEv2 home VPN from an Airbnb. Told to fix it, Claude found no way to make the existing VPN apps work, so it wrote a new client. About 20 minutes, plus their certs.

Amazon support couldn't figure out the URL for an account question and wanted to escalate with a phone call instead. Gemini gave the URL and explained what was needed in one reply. ChatGPT got it right too.

Their new boiler acted up. They sent Gemini photos and asked for help; it turned out to be user error, nothing safety-critical, and the plumber call-out was saved.
Meta's Muse logs into the school system with its credential vault, collects the homework and due dates, and adds each one with a reminder the day before. Early days: "We shall see!"
Devialet's official app was abandoned. Claude and Codex reverse engineered the amplifiers' private protocol and built an iOS controller in about a day of work. Without AI, they'd never have started.
A new HDMI-CEC controller didn't work with their projector setup. From their phone, Codex diagnosed the firmware, rewrote it, tested it and flashed the fix over the air.

Reverse engineering the firmware meant soldering wires to UART headers in an awkward spot. With Codex it took about 10 hours; without it, they say, it would have taken many more weekends.

The current after-school activities end in March, and they'd been told to watch for new ones. Four chat messages had OpenClaw write a skill that checks daily at 10:30am. They still call it unreliable.
A Santa hat, a hidden Bluetooth speaker and a cloned voice reading lines Claude wrote. At Christmas it sorted the kids, and declared a cheeky niece "Slytherin!!!"
Claude writes the story page by page, with the tension planned to peak in the middle, and Gemini draws it in a consistent style. Their kids love them night after night.
One won't eat this, another loves that. They keep each family member's preferences in ChatGPT and nail down the week's meals quickly. Now the slowest part is Walmart's website.
At dinner the idea came up: St. Patrick's Day lights instead of Valentine's. One chat message to OpenClaw, which researched the WLED controller's API and set a well-chosen theme.

Real-time monitoring of the cameras around the house, AI face recognition and event descriptions on an internal page, and alerts on Telegram, all from their own home Hermes setup.
A six-pointed star and an ornate frieze on the ceiling. Gemini placed the frieze in the 1901-1910 period, which dated the house in about 10 minutes instead of hours of searching.

Days or months after highlighting a line, it appears on the display on their dresser. Claude Code wrote the backends for the e-ink screens, showing a random quote with its book cover, 100% local.
Lights, AC, generator, leveling, all locked in a poor app. Claude Opus read the APK, cracked the Bluetooth protocol, and now their own Android app, website and Home Assistant setup run the RV.

Three bins on alternating collections. A snapshot from the doorbell camera goes to Claude, which says which bins are still in their spot, so reminders come when one actually needs moving. Pretty reliable.
Recipes from photos, nutrition from the USDA, a weekly plan and shopping list. Their meal data showed they already get most vitamins, and 2 weeks of symptom logs point to tomatoes as a first suspect.
Their dad's captions said things like "Christmas 1987", not dates. A script asked ChatGPT for dates and coordinates and wrote them into each photo. Now their timeline goes back to the day they were born.
The Android apps for their old Brother printer were terrible and ad-ridden. With Claude Code in the browser on their phone, they built their own print page, one of dozens of little family apps.
Faulty windows, a long contract and UK law they didn't know. ChatGPT Projects parsed it all and wrote to the landlord, who went from stalling to getting a quote, with work due in a couple of months.
Photos of parts with dimensions, CAD screenshots, questions about strength and stability. Claude showed a real grasp of boats, materials and how parts connect as the design evolved.

Finding the thread, looking up details, drafting the reply: their OpenClaw on a spare Mac mini does it all and hands over a draft to edit and send. Ideas for small family apps come back deployed.
They plugged the board into their Mac and told Codex what it was, how the motor was wired and what it should do. Codex wrote all the software, and it worked exactly as wanted.
Opening ports for family meant exposing every app on the server. In a few hours with Claude they wrote a tiny Go gateway that checks Tailscale, so each person reaches only what's shared with them.
Changing the brake pads used to mean finding a Windows machine and the right cable. Claude built an open-source Volkswagen diagnostic suite from GitHub tooling and their own old research.

Their rural home kept dipping below 110 volts. From two years of Home Assistant data, Claude documented brownouts down to 95v and helped fill the complaint form. Now they're pushing for a bigger transformer.
